BURIAL & FOUR TET- "MOTH" & "WOLFCUB" (TEXT06)
I watched Four Tet drop 'Moth' at Bestival this summer and remembered just how big it was. Equally, the flip is massive. The initially secret collaborative effort from the two British producers sounds like a combination of House, Electronica, Garage and Dubstep, neatly complimenting each other's intelligent styles. The release sounds much better without labels however, as reflected in the understated plain black sleeve and black label.
All key signatures from both artists are apparent on each track; Burial's ambient, dark and echoed woodblock percussion and ghostly vocals lay between Four Tet's folky electronic samples and abstract warm melodies. Both tunes reach nearly 10 atmospheric minutes and come together respectively as a different sound altogether than either artist produces individually.
One for the late-night-before-the-deadline sessions.
It's sold out with a re-release doubtful, might have to be a cheeky Discogs.
Check out both, Burial and Four Tet's Myspaces for tracks and updates.
And definitely try and catch Four Tet live.
