GILES

The day Ian Gillespy aka Giles left Manchester was a sad day for all, with several years of DJ and production experience amassed in the city Ian's built up quite a reputation in the drum and bass and dubstep community. As well as smashing dance floors at internationally acclaimed events such as Religion, Pangaea and Hit n Run, Giles co-runs the University of Manchester Drum n Bass society which provides a safe haven for Drum n Bass heads from all Manchester based universities. In conjunction with UMDNB Giles also put on Elements - a weekly drum n bass night showcasing up and coming local DJs and supporting the local scene from the roots.

Good Vibes Mix by Giles

Ian's productions have come leaps and bounds since I first heard his tunes. Starting off in drum n bass, Giles has progressed through dubstep to future garage and continues to push the boundaries of genres to create tastefully deep sounds which leave you anticipating his next upload. Giles's influences include some real hard-hitters, ranging from High Contrast, London Elektricity, Random Movement, Marky, Bcee and Lomax, The Upbeats, Cern, Break, State of Mind, to MJ Cole, Joy Orbison, Burial and Submerse.

From his home in Cardiff Ian continues to make big beats and play out whenever possible so unfortunately you won't be hearing him in Manchester any time soon. Make sure you check out his soundcloud for updates and if you're interested what Giles is like in action you can download his mix for S • W • C Sessions HERE.
